What do I get for paying such a premium? Well — mainly the piece of mind that comes from knowing that I’m helping reduce our dependance on dirty coal and expensive and unreliable nuclear power. At the same time, I’m helping to create a new economy based on more sustainable energy sources and doing my tiny bit to help clean up the air.
I’m not very happy about the prospect of leaving my children to figure out how to clean up our mess and solve the resulting climate crisis. After all – I make a point of telling my kids to clean up their mess, right?
What is perhaps the most encouraging to me is that companies like Bullfrog Power have simply rolled up their sleeves and decided that it is time to make money doing things right. I don’t think sustainable development means economic ruin. On the contrary, I see only endless possibilities and opportunities.
