Hiking La Cloche Silhouette

After sealing up and hanging our food, Dan, Steve and I crammed ourselves and our gear into a four-season Kelty 3-person tent. Roger opted to go it alone with a peculiar-looking little tent with the smallest fly I had ever seen. Roger swore by this tent as it was extremely lightweight and portable. A very wet and stormy night with strong winds and torrential rain convinced Roger that it was time for a serious upgrade.
As daylight arrived, it brought with it more rain, but diminished winds. We had a big hike ahead of us if we were to make it to the summit of Silver Peak, so we cooked a quick breakfast of Quaker Instant Oatmeal and hit the trail.
Since the trek was an out-and-back trip, we left the bulk of our gear hidden away just off the main trail and packed up some day packs with emergency survival gear and a little food. We put on some plastic ponchos that I had stowed in my pack and began hiking as quickly as the wet rock underfoot would safely allow.
